Journeys of The Hart Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Journeys of The Hart (“Journeys of The Hart,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a for-profit travel service provider offering curated vacation tours, mission-based travel experiences, and nonprofit-aligned journeys. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal data in the context of providing our travel services (such as group trips, cultural tours, mission trips, retreats, and other curated experiences) through our website (thehartjourneys.com) and related services. We also describe our practices regarding information we collect when you visit our website or otherwise interact with us in the course of our business.
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, please note that if you reside outside the United States (for example, in the European Economic Area), the processing of your data and this Privacy Policy will be governed, as applicable, by laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, “GDPR”). Journeys of The Hart strives to adhere to generally accepted privacy principles and comply with applicable privacy laws. This Policy is primarily intended for our users in the United States.
The company responsible for handling your personal data is 1322 Capital LLC, doing business as Journeys of The Hart, with a registered office at 8401 Mayland Drive, Suite 8123, Richmond, VA 23294, USA. If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, you can contact us via the contact form on our website, by phone at (804) 636-5849, or by emailing privacy@thehartjourneys.com. You may also reach us by mail at the address above, Attn: Privacy.
Please be aware that if you do not provide certain information marked as required (for instance, during account registration or booking), we may be unable to register you as a user or provide you with certain services or travel arrangements. In order to register an account or provide personal information on our website, you must be at least 13 years old, and you must be 18 or older to make travel bookings or purchases. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to provide personal data directly. Journeys of The Hart may use your information to verify your age and enforce these restrictions. If you are a parent or guardian booking travel that includes a minor, you are responsible for providing that minor’s information and ensuring you have the authority to do so.
2. Legal Basis for Processing the Data
By using Journeys of The Hart’s services, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. Depending on the context, we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal data:
-
Contractual Necessity: Most of our data processing is based on the necessity to fulfill our contract with you or to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract. For example, when you book a trip or inquire about our services, we must process your personal data to arrange travel services and complete your booking.
-
Legitimate Interests: We may process your information for our legitimate business interests in providing, maintaining, and improving our services and communications with you. For instance, if we send you updates about your trip or personalized travel offers, or if we recognize you when you return to our site, we do so to enhance your customer experience and our service delivery. We will only rely on legitimate interests after considering your rights and freedoms.
-
Consent: In certain cases, we will ask for your consent to process your personal data. For example, we obtain your consent for placing non-essential cookies (see Section 9 on Cookies) or for sending you marketing communications where required by law. If we collect sensitive personal data (such as health or religious information) for specific trip purposes, we will do so with your explicit consent when required. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
-
Legal Obligations: We also process personal data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations. This includes, for example, retaining transaction records for financial reporting, sharing information when required by government authorities (such as for immigration, customs, or security purposes in relation to your travel), or responding to lawful requests and court orders.
3. Personal Information We Collect
We collect various types of personal information from you (and about you) in order to operate our business and provide our travel services. The types of personal data we may collect include:
-
Contact and Identity Information: Information that identifies you or allows us to contact you. For example, when you create an account or book a trip, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and country/state of residence. We may also collect personal details like your date of birth and nationality (for instance, to ensure accurate travel bookings or compliance with destination requirements). If you register an online account, we will also collect login credentials such as your username/email and password.
-
Travel Document Details: Information required to arrange travel on your behalf. For example, we will ask for your passport information (passport number, issuing country, expiration date) and may request other identification details as needed for booking flights, accommodations, or obtaining travel visas.
-
Payment and Transaction Information: When you purchase travel services, we collect information necessary to process the transaction. This includes your payment card details (credit/debit card number, expiration date, security code) or other payment information, as well as billing address and other billing details. If you request an invoice or receipt, we will collect the necessary billing information (such as your company name or tax identification, if applicable). We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers after the transaction is processed, except as needed to fulfill and document the transaction in compliance with law and payment security standards.
-
Travel Preferences and Interests: We may collect information about your travel preferences, interests, and special requests to better customize your experience. For example, you might provide information about preferred destinations, accommodation types, activity levels, or dietary preferences. We also record any other preferences or notes you share with us regarding your planned journeys so that we can tailor our services to you.
-
Usage and Technical Information: When you visit our website or use our online services, we automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with our site. This usage data may include your IP address, browser type, device type, unique device identifiers, pages or content viewed, dates/times of access, and referral URLs. We also gather information on how you navigate and click through our site, as well as whether you opened or engaged with our emails (for instance, we may use pixels to know if you open our newsletter). This data helps us understand user engagement, troubleshoot issues, improve our platform, and personalize your experience.
-
Social Media or Third-Party Login Information: If you choose to register or log in via a third-party platform (for example, using Facebook, Google, or similar single sign-on services), we receive information from those platforms such as your name, email, and any other details you have consented to share via that platform’s authorization process. Similarly, if you engage with us on social media (e.g., following our pages or tagging us), we may receive certain information from your public profile or as provided by you.
-
Communications and Correspondence: If you contact us by telephone, email, through our website chat, or via any customer support channel, we will collect and retain the information you provide in your communications. Please note that phone calls to our customer service line may be recorded for quality assurance, training purposes, and to help us accurately address your inquiries and bookings. We also keep records of email correspondence or messages you send us (such as questions about a trip or support requests) so we can follow up and maintain a history of your relationship with us.
-
Surveys and Feedback: We may ask you to participate in customer surveys, questionnaires, or provide feedback on your travel experiences. For example, after a trip, we might send you a feedback form or survey about the tour, accommodations, or overall experience. Any information you choose to provide in these forms (such as your opinions, ratings, testimonials, or suggestions) will be collected and used to improve our services and marketing. Participation in surveys or feedback requests is always voluntary.
-
Sensitive Personal Data: In the context of specialized travel services, we may collect certain sensitive personal information about you, but only when necessary and with appropriate safeguards. This category can include:
-
Health and Medical Information: Details about your health conditions, disabilities, allergies, dietary requirements, or emergency medical needs that are relevant to your ability to participate in a trip. For example, if a journey involves high altitude trekking, we might ask about any respiratory or heart conditions; or if meals are provided, we will note dietary restrictions (vegetarian, kosher/halal, food allergies, etc.). We collect this information to ensure your safety and comfort, to make necessary accommodations, and to be prepared in case of a medical situation during the trip.
-
Religious or Philosophical Beliefs: Information about your religious affiliation or spiritual beliefs if it is relevant to the travel experience. For instance, for mission-based trips or spiritual retreats, we may inquire about your faith background or motivations in order to tailor the journey to your interests or to partner you with appropriate programs. Providing this information is completely optional, and we will only use it to align the travel experience (such as ensuring mission trip activities or schedules respect participants’ beliefs and practices).
-
Information on Minors: If you are traveling with minors (children under 18 years of age) or booking a trip for a minor, we will collect personal information about the child as necessary to include them in the travel arrangements. This typically includes the child’s name, date of birth, gender, and passport or identification details (similar to the data we collect for adult travelers). We may also collect additional details for minors such as specific health information or guardians’ contact details, to the extent needed for the trip’s logistics and safety. Parental or guardian consent is required for any collection of personal data about a minor. We expect that any information about minors is provided to us by their parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children through our website or services. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will delete it as soon as possible.
-
We obtain the personal information listed above either directly from you (for example, through forms you fill out, details you provide during booking, or information you communicate to us), through automated means (such as website analytics and cookies when you interact with our site), or occasionally from third parties (for example, if someone else books a trip on your behalf and provides your details, or if we receive information from a partner organization involved in your travel). If you provide us with personal information about other individuals (such as family members, minor children, or friends for whom you are booking travel), you must ensure that you have the authority or their consent to share that information with us. By providing data about others, you are confirming that you have obtained any necessary permissions. We will use that information solely for the purposes of fulfilling your requests and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.
4. Purposes of Processing Personal Data
Journeys of The Hart will process your personal data for the following purposes, in each case to operate our business and provide services to you:
-
Account Registration and Management: To create and manage your user account on our website. This includes identifying you as a user, allowing you to log in, and providing you with access to features available only to registered users (such as viewing your bookings, saved trips, or subscription preferences). We use your information to maintain your profile and ensure that only you (and those you authorize) can access your account.
-
Travel Booking and Service Fulfillment: To develop, fulfill, and execute the contracts for travel services that you enter into with us. In practice, this means using your personal data to process your trip reservations and payments, to book the various components of your trip (for example, flights, hotels, tours, transportation, travel insurance, etc.) with our suppliers, and to coordinate the logistics of your journey. We will also use your information to handle any requests or requirements you have related to the trip (such as special accommodations or schedule changes) and to manage any support or claims after your trip. This purpose covers all processing necessary to provide the travel services you have requested and paid for, including communications with you about your itinerary and any changes, and ensuring our local partners (airlines, guides, nonprofit organizations hosting mission activities, etc.) have the data they need to serve you.
-
Updates and Service Communications: To communicate with you regarding operational or administrative matters. For example, we may email or text you to confirm your bookings, provide itinerary updates, alert you to important information (such as travel advisories, safety or security updates, changes in entry requirements, or emergency notifications), or to inform you about updates to our platform and policies (including security updates or changes to terms of service). These communications are typically not promotional in nature but are necessary for using our services or for your information and safety. We send such communications as needed or as required by law, and they may be sent via email, SMS, phone call, or in-app/website notifications as appropriate.
-
Customer Support and Travel Assistance: To provide effective customer service and support throughout your interactions with us. We will use your personal data to respond to your inquiries, requests, or feedback (for example, answering questions about a trip or assisting with issues you encounter). If you start a booking but do not complete it, we might reach out to offer help (for instance, if you encountered a technical issue or have questions, we could call or email you to assist with completing the booking). We also use your data to manage any complaints or disputes, to provide cancellations or refunds (where applicable), and generally to ensure we can address any concerns you have before, during, or after your journey. Our goal is to make sure you have a smooth experience, so we keep records of your communications and use them to serve you better.
-
Analytics and Improvements: To analyze and improve our services and user experience. We may use information about how you and other users interact with our website and offerings to generate aggregate data that does not identify you personally. For example, we might compile statistics on the number of travelers interested in certain destinations, the popularity of a specific tour, or the demographics of our customer base. We analyze these trends to understand our business performance and customer preferences. This helps us improve our product offerings, develop new travel programs, enhance our website functionality, and optimize our marketing strategies. All such analysis uses de-identified or aggregated data, and we do not use it to make decisions about you personally. (For how we handle personalized marketing, see Section 5 below.)
(Note: If you apply for a job with Journeys of The Hart, any personal data you submit (e.g. in a resume or application) will be used only for recruiting and HR management purposes. These activities are outside the scope of our services to travelers, but our commitment to data protection extends to job applicants as well.)
5. Marketing and Communications
As part of our marketing and customer outreach efforts, we may use your personal information to keep you informed about travel opportunities, promotions, and other news about Journeys of The Hart that may interest you:
-
Personalized Offers and Advertising: We may send you newsletters, promotional emails, or other marketing communications featuring our travel products and services. This can include information about new curated trips, upcoming mission-based experiences, special deals or discounts, partner offers, or travel tips. We strive to tailor these communications to be relevant to you – for example, by highlighting trips similar to those you have taken or expressed interest in. We may work with third-party advertising and marketing partners to deliver targeted content (for instance, showing you ads on social media or other websites based on your interests or cookies, where permitted). These communications will come through channels such as email, online advertisements, social media messages, or, in some cases, text messages (SMS/MMS) if you have opted in to receive them. We will not spam you, and you will have control over your communication preferences (see below).
-
Market Research, Profiles, and Surveys: In order to improve our service and understand our customer base better, we may use data related to your travel history, interests, and feedback for analysis and market research. This might involve creating customer profiles or segments (e.g. travelers interested in adventure tourism, or those preferring luxury accommodations) to personalize what offerings we present to you. We also conduct marketing studies and use analytics to determine the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns or to measure customer satisfaction. Periodically, we may invite you to participate in questionnaires or provide feedback on your experiences (for example, a post-trip survey or a questionnaire about what destinations you’d like to see in the future). Your responses help us perform quality surveys and make improvements to our trips and services. Participation is voluntary, and even if you choose not to respond to surveys, you can continue to use our services normally.
Your Choices: We respect your preferences regarding marketing communications. If you do not wish to receive promotional emails or newsletters from us, you can opt out at any time. For example, each marketing email we send will include an “unsubscribe” link in the footer—simply click that link to stop receiving that type of communication. You may also adjust your preferences by contacting us directly (via email or the contact form on our site) and requesting to be removed from our mailing list. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing messages, we may still send you transactional or service-related communications (such as booking confirmations, travel updates, or important notices about your account or itinerary), as these are not promotional but necessary for us to fulfill our obligations to you. We do not share or sell your personal data to third-party companies for their own direct marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
6. Data Retention Period
We will retain your personal data only for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, and in accordance with applicable law. This means that we keep your information for as long as you have an account with us or as long as is needed to provide you with the services you have requested. For example, if you book a trip with us, we will retain the personal data related to that booking for the duration of the trip and a certain period afterward, in case of any follow-up services, inquiries, or legal requirements. We may also retain certain data for a longer period if it is required for legitimate business purposes such as record-keeping, compliance with legal obligations, resolving disputes, or enforcing agreements.
When we no longer have a legitimate need or legal obligation to keep your personal information, we will either delete it or anonymize it so that it can no longer be associated with you. If deletion or anonymization is not immediately feasible (for example, because the data is stored in backup archives), we will securely store the data and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible. We periodically review the data in our possession and erase or de-identify information that is no longer needed. In summary, we will not keep personal data longer than necessary and will handle its disposal in a secure manner consistent with our data retention policies and applicable laws.
7. Data Recipients (Sharing of Information)
In order to carry out the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and provide you with a seamless travel experience, it may be necessary for us to share your personal data with third parties in certain circumstances. We disclose personal information only to the parties and for the reasons outlined below, and we take steps to ensure any third party that receives your data is obligated to protect it. The categories of recipients include:
-
Business Transfers: If Journeys of The Hart undergoes a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, reorganization, joint venture, sale of company assets, or any other similar transaction, your personal information may be disclosed to the prospective or actual acquiring party (and its agents and advisors) as part of the transaction. In such cases, we will ensure that the new owner or merged entity treats your personal data in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy. Similarly, if we ever need to transfer some or all of our business assets to another company, personal data (as one of those assets) may be transferred. In all of these scenarios, we would only transfer your information under appropriate confidentiality and security agreements, and the receiving party will be required to honor the commitments we have made in this Policy.
-
Travel Suppliers and Partners: We share relevant personal information with the third-party suppliers who actually deliver the travel services you book through us. This is a core part of our service – without sharing your details, the airline cannot issue your ticket, the hotel cannot confirm your reservation, etc. Depending on your itinerary, these travel partners can include airlines (for flight bookings, including your name, gender, date of birth, nationality, passport details, and any special service requests such as meal preferences or assistance needs), hotels or other accommodation providers (names of guests, check-in/check-out dates, and special notes like room preferences or dietary needs for meal plans), transportation companies (e.g. car rental agencies or shuttle services, who receive drivers’ license info or contact info if needed), tour operators and local tour guides (names and any pertinent info to conduct tours or activities), and activity or excursion providers at your destination. If your journey includes a mission-based or nonprofit component (for example, volunteering at a local organization or participating in a charitable project), we may also share necessary information with the nonprofit or community organizations that are hosting or coordinating that portion of your trip. These partners typically need to know who you are and may need certain background information to facilitate your participation (for instance, confirming your qualifications for a volunteer activity or ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission). In every case, we share only the information required for the supplier or partner to perform their service. They are not allowed to use your data for any purpose other than fulfilling your specific travel arrangements (unless you separately engage with them and provide consent).
-
Authorized Service Providers: We also use a variety of trusted third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf and help us run our business. These include, for example: payment processors and financial institutions that handle secure processing of your credit card transactions or travel insurance purchases; technology and IT service providers that host our website, databases, and applications or provide cloud storage and backup services; communications platforms(such as email service providers or SMS gateways) that help us send out newsletters, confirmations, and alerts; marketing and advertising partners that assist with delivering personalized ads or marketing campaigns (as described in Section 5), including analytics companies that help us understand how users interact with our site; customer relationship management (CRM) and customer support tools that enable our service team to track inquiries and respond to you; survey and feedback tools that distribute and process customer satisfaction surveys; and debt collection or billing service providers if that becomes necessary for unpaid dues. In addition, if our company engages professional advisors (like attorneys, accountants, or auditors) or insurance providers, we may need to share relevant information with them in the context of receiving their services (for instance, providing booking details to an insurance company if there’s a claim). All these service providers are contractually bound to process personal data only on our instructions and to protect it. They are not permitted to use your data for their own unrelated purposes, and they must adhere to confidentiality and security obligations that align with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
-
Legal Compliance and Protection: We may disclose your personal information when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or valid legal process. This includes situations where we are required to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal demands; to meet government reporting requirements; or to fulfill obligations under travel-specific laws (for example, providing passport and traveler information to customs and immigration authorities, or complying with security protocols like TSA’s Secure Flight program in the U.S.). We may also share information as needed to enforce our Terms and Conditions or other agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Journeys of The Hart, our customers, our employees, or others. For instance, if you violate our Terms of Service or engage in fraudulent or harmful behavior, we may share data with law enforcement or other authorities to investigate and address the issue. This type of sharing will always be done in line with applicable laws and regulations.
-
With Your Consent or At Your Direction: Aside from the cases listed above, we will only share your personal data with third parties when you have given us explicit permission to do so. For example, if you ask us to share your itinerary with a family member, or if you opt-in to a co-branded promotion that requires us to pass your details to a partner, we will do so with your consent. You might also authorize us to share information in other contexts, such as writing a testimonial or review that you agree we can publish on our website (in which case it may include your name or initials as you provide). In any scenario where you direct us to share your information or expressly consent to it, we will honor your instruction.
International Data Transfers: The third parties with whom we share data may be located in different countries than your country of residence. In particular, since we operate in the United States, many of our service providers and travel partners are based in the U.S.; however, the nature of international travel means that your data might be transferred to organizations in various countries (for example, to hotels or tour operators in the country you are traveling to, or to global cloud service providers that may host data in multiple regions). Some of these countries may not have the same level of data protection laws as your home country. We take steps to ensure that your personal information is afforded an adequate level of protection wherever it is processed. When we transfer data internationally, we do so in accordance with applicable privacy laws. For example, if we transfer data from the European Economic Area to the U.S. or another country not deemed to have “adequate” data protection by the EU, we will implement appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or obtain your consent where required. By using our services and providing your information, you acknowledge that your personal data may be transferred to and processed in other countries as needed to arrange your travel and perform the services you requested.
No Unauthorized Third-Party Disclosure: We will not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for their own independent marketing or purposes unrelated to delivering Journeys of The Hart services, unless we have obtained your consent. The only circumstances in which third parties receive your data are those described above or as otherwise permitted or required by law. In all cases, we remain committed to safeguarding your privacy. If in the future we need to share information in a manner not covered by this Policy, we will update you and, if necessary, obtain your permission.
8. Your Data Protection Rights
We respect the confidentiality of your personal data and are committed to ensuring that you can exercise your rights over your information. Under applicable data protection laws, you may have a number of rights regarding the personal data we hold about you. These rights may include the following:
-
Right of Access: You have the right to request confirmation of whether we are processing your personal data, and if so, to receive a copy of that data. This allows you to know what information we have about you and to verify that we are processing it in accordance with the law.
-
Right of Rectification: You have the right to have inaccurate personal data corrected and to have incomplete data completed. If any of the information we hold about you is incorrect or outdated (for example, a misspelled name or an old email address), you can ask us to fix it, and we will do so. We want to ensure that the data we process is accurate and up to date.
-
Right to Deletion (Right to Erasure): You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances. This is sometimes called the “right to be forgotten.” You can ask us to erase your data without undue delay if, for example, the information is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, you have withdrawn your consent (where the processing was based on consent) and no other legal basis exists, or you believe the processing is unlawful. We will honor valid deletion requests, provided we do not have a compelling legal reason to retain the data (such as a requirement to keep records for a certain period, or to establish or defend legal claims).
-
Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to request that we limit the processing of your personal data in certain situations. This means that, while we will store your data, we will temporarily suspend any other use of it. You might request restriction if you contest the accuracy of the data (while we verify it), or if you object to the processing and we are considering your objection, or if the processing is unlawful but you prefer restriction instead of deletion. When processing is restricted, we will clearly mark the data and ensure it is only processed for specific reasons (such as with your consent or for legal claims).
-
Right to Object: You have the right to object to certain types of processing of your personal data, particularly when we are processing it based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
-
Direct Marketing Opt-Out: You can always object to your data being used for direct marketing purposes – if you do so, we will stop using your data for that purpose immediately (see Section 5 on how to unsubscribe from marketing communications).
-
Other Objections: If we are processing your data based on a legitimate interest, you may object if you have a situation specific to you that you believe makes such processing unfair. We will then re-evaluate our reasons for processing and may either stop processing or let you know why we believe we have a compelling legitimate ground to continue (for example, if data is needed for a legal claim).
-
-
Right not to be subject to Automated Decisions: You have the right not to be subject to a decision that is based solely on automated processing (including profiling) if that decision produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you. In plain terms, this means we will not make important decisions about you using algorithms or automated processes without any human involvement, unless it is necessary for entering into or performing a contract with you, or you have explicitly consented, or other safeguards are in place. (For instance, Journeys of The Hart does not engage in automated decision-making that would deny services or change prices for individual customers without human review. Most of our processing involves human decision-making, such as tailoring a trip to your interests.) If we ever use automated decision-making that falls under this right, you would be informed and have the ability to request human intervention or to contest the decision.
Please note: Due to the nature of our services and the purposes for which we collect and use personal data, the right to data portability (which allows you to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes across different services) may not be applicable in most circumstances. Data portability typically applies to information you provided to us, which we process by automated means based on your consent or a contract. While you are welcome to request it, much of the travel-related data we hold is intertwined with our service platform and may not be portable to another provider in a standardized format. We will inform you if we determine that a portability request cannot be fulfilled for these reasons.
If you wish to exercise any of your data protection rights, you may contact us to make a request. The easiest way is to email us at privacy@thehartjourneys.com with the details of your request. You may also write to us at: Journeys of The Hart – Privacy Team, 8401 Mayland Drive, Suite 8123, Richmond, VA 23294, USA. To help us process your request efficiently, please provide sufficient information to verify your identity and to find your data (for example, your full name, the email address associated with your account or booking, and specify which right you wish to exercise and what information your request pertains to). We may need to ask you for additional information to confirm your identity (as a security measure) before fulfilling certain requests, especially for access, deletion, or sensitive changes, to ensure that we do not disclose data to the wrong person or delete data incorrectly.
We will respond to your request within the time frame required by law (which is typically 30 days under many regulations, though this can be extended if the request is complex – if an extension is needed, we will inform you). If for some reason we cannot fulfill your request (for example, if a deletion request conflicts with a legal obligation to retain certain data), we will explain the reasons to you.
If you are located in a region with a governmental data protection authority (such as a Data Protection Authority in an EU member state or another privacy regulator), you also have the right to lodge a complaint with that authority if you believe we have infringed your privacy rights. We kindly ask that you first give us the opportunity to address your concerns by contacting us directly, but you are within your rights to seek guidance or assistance from your local regulator.
Exercising your rights is free of charge. We will not charge you a fee for handling a legitimate request. However, if a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive (for example, you make repetitive requests without justification), we may either charge a reasonable fee to cover the administrative cost of responding or decline to act on the request. We will inform you if this situation arises and why we believe the request meets that criteria.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Like most websites, our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to provide and improve our services. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your browser or device when you visit our site. They serve a variety of functions, such as enabling certain website features, remembering your preferences, and analyzing how you use our site.
The primary purpose of the cookies we use is to make your browsing experience easier and more personalized. For example, we may use cookies to remember your language preference or login status so you don’t have to re-enter information each time you visit. We also use cookies (and third-party analytics tools) to collect information about how visitors navigate our site – for instance, which pages are most popular, how long users spend on each page, and if any errors occur. This information helps us improve the website’s performance and design. Additionally, cookies can be used for marketing purposes, such as to deliver relevant ads on other websites or on social media based on your interests (as inferred from your browsing of our site) – these are often called targeting or advertising cookies.
When you first visit our website, you may see a cookie notice or banner that gives you options regarding cookie consent, especially for any non-essential cookies. By continuing to use our site, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this Privacy Policy (unless you opt out through your browser settings or via our cookie preference tools). You have the ability to accept or refuse cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. Please be aware that blocking or deleting cookies may affect the functionality of our site; some features (like retaining your trip selections in a cart or keeping you logged in) may not work properly if cookies are disabled.
For more detailed information, please read our Cookies Policy (if available on our website) which explains the types of cookies and similar technologies we use, what data they collect, and how you can manage your cookie preferences. If you have any questions about our use of cookies, you can also contact us for further information.
10. Modifications to This Privacy Policy
We may update or modify this Privacy Policy from time to time in response to evolving legal, regulatory, or operational requirements. If we make important (material) changes to the way we handle your personal data, we will notify you by appropriate means. For example, we might post a prominent notice on our website or send you an email notification describing the changes and their effective date. We will always indicate at the top of the Privacy Policy the date of the latest revision so you know when it was last updated.
Your continued use of our website or services after a revised Privacy Policy has become effective signifies that you have read and understood the latest version of the Policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. If you do not agree with any updates to the Policy, you should discontinue using our services or consult us about your concerns.
We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and will not materially reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without obtaining your consent or as permitted by law. If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how your personal data is handled, please do not hesitate to contact us using the contact information provided in the Introduction section above. Your trust is important to us, and we will do our utmost to address your inquiries and resolve any issues to your satisfaction.
